Fuel prices soar in black market

Manipur’s fuel crisis has deepened, pushing both private and commercial vehicles off the roads. Most of the vehicles, including auto-rickshaws, even the low-floor buses, are staying off the roads because of non-availability of petrol and diesel both in open and black markets. Vehicle owners said petrol is being sold at Rs130 to Rs150 a litre, while diesel is sold at Rs70 to Rs80 a litre in the black market.
“In spite of the exorbitant prices, it is very difficult to find petrol even in the black market,” Boycha Singh, a government employee, said.
