Freedom in Life's Journey
Dr Ranbir Laishram *
In the vast ocean of life,
Unaware of its ever-expanding
Depth, breadth, and purpose,
We all sail through the voyage.
On some days the sea is stormy,
Other times, it is calm and life is beautiful.
Often, in the course of life,
I look back on the path traversed so far
Unmindful of the point where I stand,
I dwelled in my thoughts,
Lost myself in a desert of mirages.
I went adrift and my mind - a furious gale.
Standstill, I was, I forgot to step forwards
I look beyond far and far ahead from my path, my dream ...
A visionary beyond the horizon,
I lost myself in a dream
And I lost my way...
Dwelled a while long enough in my head,
Retrospecting the past and dreaming of the future,
Suddenly, I became conscious of my own self,
I firmly stood and started pacing, one step after another.
Mindful of the present moments,
the so called 'now',
my life I found myself and the world around me.
There in that moment, I found freedom.
A realization - the ability to live the present moment.
Is it true that everybody lives two lives?
A life in his thoughts and another one in the present moment.
As I age, I started learning how to poise my life -
The life in my head and
The life of being in the present moment.
