Financial crisis: NE ministers to meet Pranab
Seven Sisters Post | P Das | Agartala (June 3):
The finance ministers of all Northeastern states will hold a meeting with union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss the financial situation of the region and the required infrastructural development necessary for pouring in investments in the Norteast, said a minister here on Sunday.
The Northeastern states during the state finance ministers’ pre-budget meeting with union finance minister in New Delhi in January had demanded for a special “connectivity and communication package” to attract investment and boost tourism and industrial development in the region. “The centre must announce connectivity and communication package for the Northeastern states, without which there will be little possibility of industrialisation and investment to this industry-starved region,” said Choudhury.
