Farmers training / workshop at IBSD, Imphal
Farmers training cum workshop organised by Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD)
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India organized training programme for the farmers of NER for the cultivation of Ginger, Parkia sp., Banana and Citrus.
This training was organised at Bioresources Park of IBSD at Haraorou under the on-going programme on “Bioeconomy from Bioresources with special reference to North Eastern Region of India”.
The programme was addressed by Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, IBSD and briefed about various resources and facilities available at Haraorou which can be used for the benefit of farmers of this region.
Many resource persons including Prof. N. C. Talukdar, Dr. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, Dr. Thoithoi and Shri P. Ngouba Singh disseminates several ideas for exploring these bioresources to develop and strengthen the economy of farmers of this region.
About 60 farmers from different villages of Manipur participated in the training programme and interacted with resource persons for the cultivation of Ginger, Parkia sp., Banana and Citrus.
IBSD is organising such trainings for the development of bioresources of NER to promote in different context under the leadership of Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal. IBSD is organizing such programmes to celebrate the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 years of Independence of India.
