Eye on polls, Sonia forms special Cong panel for NE

Keeping an eye on the 2013 Assembly elections in three Northeastern states, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has formed a special committee to look into the socio-political issues of the region even as former Nagaland chief minister SC Jamir appealed for an early settlement of the NSCN issue.
A 32-member delegation of the North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) on Monday called on Sonia Gandhi at 10, Janpath and demanded a proactive role of the incumbent chief ministers from the Congress-ruled states of the region to revive the NECCC.
