Experts to assess environmental flows of Northeast rivers

The northeast may have many rivers, including the mighty Brahmaputra, criss-crossing the region. But is the health of these rivers intact?
While experts said the Ithai barrage in Manipur and the 405-MW Ranganadi hydropower project in Arunachal Pradesh have already started having its impact on the ecology and livelihood due to change in water flow, the upcoming projects in Arunachal Pradesh were set to further change the river ecosystem in the region.
"It is in this contest that it becomes important to understand e-flows in current environmental decisions on rivers in the country," the organizers said.
