EC honours Manipuri ‘poll’ icons for encouraging citizens’ participation in elections

Even as the Election Commission of India on Tuesday celebrated its success in holding state Assembly elections in five states, CEC SY Quraishi admitted there is still much to be achieved.
Speaking at a function to felicitate several icons, including those from Manipur, where the 10th State Assembly elections were held on January 28, Quraishi said despite several reforms initiated two years ago, there was areas that required intervention.
He specifically pointed out the electoral rolls across the nation that continues to be less than perfect. “There continues to be complains against double entry and left outs from the roll,” he said.
