Two people, including an Air India loader, have been arrested from Imphal airport for allegedly trying to transport banned 'party drugs' worth Rs 28 lakh in the baggage of an air passenger. The duo were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials after they were tipped off by the CISF, which guards the airport.
"Since the employee of Air India was involved in an act of unlawful interference and tampering the registered package in check-in area after screening and facilating the passenger in carrying the banned substance by violating the provisions of anti-narcotics act, a written report was made to the security in-charge of Air India and the NCB at Imphal airport," the official added.
