Donkey or No Donkey
Jodha Chandra Sanasam *
Iboton and his son rode their donkey;
smiles on their faces
they frequented to Khwairamband Keithel to and fro.
Days passed into months
the neighbourhood began
to make fun of them
slung mud the milieu on their faces:
See that! The father and son
riding the donkey proverbial!
Now Iboton and his son
rode their donkey no more;
stopped to stroll out
in the neighbourhood and around the lanes even.
They looked hurt, and it wasn't fair.
An old friend told them:
Live a life natural
who will say anything to that?
Iboton answered:
I'm scared to live a life natural too
what they want I know not;
it's beyond my might
to sponsor breakfast, lunch, dinner
for those five guys
the rhetoric orators of our neighbourhood.
However I'm living the life-style,
a life under their decree.
I'm placing a question to my own self
which is a better choice
to live in fear or to live without fear?
No answer I've yet.
I hear they're planning
to convert dogs to horses' size
and ride dogs as horses.
I'm waiting for the day to see that myself
it will be interesting,
won't it?
