Dog meat sells like hot cake in Aizawl
Seven Sisters Post | Zodin Sanga, Aizawl (July 9):
Consumption of dog meat, though it has never been a traditional cuisine, is an accepted social norm in the Mizo society.
It is not as regular or widely consumed as pork, beef, chicken or fish, but it is the most highly-demanded meat with its price higher than any meat. While a kilogram of pork, the most commonly consumed meat, costs Rs 200, a kilogram of dog sells for Rs 250. At present, there are about 15 dog meat shops in Aizawl where an average of 600 dogs are slaughtered a month.
