A particular MLA from Punjab has looked down on the food item of others. And the way he said things were derogatory which was unbecoming of an MLA. But it sure did highlight the wrong notion of superiority that a community could have by judging others from their own particularistic culture. The problem then is not what we eat. But the problem is the mistake of a majority community that thinks that whatever they do or eat is better.
But the picture does not end here. The other side of the coin reveals that it is not superiority complex but jealousy that motivates the perpetrators. Many Mongoloids have established themselves in various professions and can be seen all over India. But there is a fear of the 'Other' coming and taking away the jobs, women etc. In order to face this challenge, some have resorted to the age-old trick namely, presenting the 'Other' as inferior and different. For this purpose they create stereotypes and use various unfair means to prevent others from further advancement.
