DoNER ministry to sanction Rs 40 crores for NE students' hostel

The Union DoNER ministry has agreed in principle to sanction an amount of 40 crore for construction of a 520-bed hostel within JNU campus with 70 per cent reservation for northeastern students and the rest for students from various parts of the country belonging to backward classes.
While the funds for the hostel would be allotted from the Non-lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR), a memorandum would be signed to this effect. The JNU authorities have agreed to name the hostel Subansiri NE Hostel, Sanjoy said.
