Union Minister of DoNER, Govt. of India visited National Sports University's temporary campus at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex
Today, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture, Tourism, and DoNER, Govt. of India, accompanied by Shri N. Biren Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Manipur, and Shri Govindas Konthoujam, Hon’ble Minister, Youth Affairs & Sports and PWD, Manipur, visited National Sports University’s temporary campus at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Vice-Chancellor of National Sports University Shri. R.C. Mishra, IAS (Retd.), welcomed the visiting dignitaries and presented the present status and the future plans for development of the National Sports University. During his presentation, he briefed the dignitaries regarding the courses offered by NSU, the student strength, facilities available for students on the temporary campus (Khuman Lampak Sports Complex), and the sports achievements of the students.
Notably, NSU has students from 26 States and Union Territories, and students from NSU have participated in various International and National sports competitions and won several medals, besides academic activities. Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the master plan of the permanent campus and the progress of the undergoing constructions. During the presentation, Vice-Chancellor requested the Hon’ble YAS & PWD, Manipur, to expedite the work of widening the approach roads to the permanent campus.
Hon’ble Minister YAS & PWD assured to render full assistance to the University by widening two approach roads and making a ring road. He also requested Union Minister DoNER to help the State Govt. by providing funding for the approach road.
Hon’ble Union Minister suggested that the main approach road should be planned well in advance so that it is ready by the time campus is completed. Meanwhile existing roads should be improved to facilitate movement of construction materials. He also suggested engaging an agency to monitor quality control, and complete the construction of the new campus much before the scheduled date. Hon’ble Chief Minister Manipur also suggested monitoring the construction work by the state and also to rework and shorten the completion schedule.
Hon’ble Union Minister, accompanied by Hon’ble CM Manipur and Hon’ble Minister Works & YAS, visited the Sports Science Laboratories of NSU and the Multipurpose Hall, where student athletes practiced various activities. During his interaction with the students, the Hon’ble Union Minister suggested inviting icons in the field of sports to the National Sports University campus to share their knowledge and experience.
He also appreciated students' achievements in such a short period.
