Delhi Disarmament Conference and Events 2010

On the outset, kindly allow us to introduce ourselves. Our organization, Control Arms Foundation of India (CAFI) , headed by Lt General (retd) BS Malik, Former Chief of Staff, Western Command and whose advisory board includes Ambassador (retd) Arundhati Ghose, India's former Ambassador to UN, was established on 10th September 2004 in New Delhi by a group of concerned citizens from diverse backgrounds from different parts of India who are committed to finding solutions to ending ongoing armed violence caused by small arms, light weapons and Improvised Explosive Device proliferation that is going on within the region. The Indian civil society is organizing a parallel event in New Delhi as an alternative action to the Defence Expo 2010. Four days of meetings, workshops, peace vigils, press conference, concert and an expert's conference on a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty concerts will be held in New Delhi from February14 to 18 February 2010. The event is titled "Delhi Disarmament Conference &Events 2010", focusing on the consequences of the arms trade and the way military spending is prioritised over the wellbeing of people.
