Delights of Diwali
Moirangthem Minakshi Devi *
The history of Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya led to the onset of Diwali,
It's now time of the year to spread some smiles and be someone's ally.
An array of light that brings joy as it arrives each year,
The most loved season of festivity is here again, the noise is loud and clear.
Noisy street and no dark corner seen, just blithe children with mouthful of sweets.
Mails from our loved one's flood in and so are series of famous tweets.
Can you hear the melodious chants throughout your neighbourhood?
That's some humble prayers to Goddess Laxmi for fortune and good.
Under the ether lay a refulgent city, groomed as a bride,
The air has an aroma of the earthers diyas with rangoli by the side.
The town and the bucolic site has an alluring view to offer leaving me in gaiety,
Every house is lit up while families offer prayer to the deity.
Fireworks prolong through every street I walk by,
The sky is veiled with bombardment of the colorful rockets that fly.
A cheerful sight of children so overwhelmed by the noisy crackers,
Whilst streets are crowded to get a glimpse of lightwork by merrymakers.
Remember, Diwali is not just a festival feastful to the eyes,
It's a truth we live refining every soul once but not twice.
The diyas and every other lights may flicker by the night and die,
But the next morning, the smoke and noise subsides bringing a new world of truth and no lies.
