DG Assam Rifles meets Governor on 13 July 2018
Lieutenant General Sukhdeep Sangwan, SM**, Director General Assam Rifles, Mrs Sangeeta Sangwan, President, Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association along with Major General Virendra Singh, VSM, IGAR (South) met the Honourable Governor of Manipur, Smt Najma Heptulla on his two day visit to the state on 13th July 2018.
The General Officer complimented the Governor for portraying Manipur in a befitting manner in the recent NEC Summit and expressed his grief over the recent landslides in the Tamenglong district which claimed seven precious lives.
While recollecting her expertise in the field of botony/zoology, the Governor articulated the need for indigenous plantation to counter the issue of soil erosion and deforestation in the state.
Speaking of the Act East policy and its implementation, the General Officer put forth the importance of establishing peace in the North East.
The Governor expressed that there is a huge difference in the situation of the North East and Jammu and Kashmir and appreciated the role played by the Assam Rifles in preventing a similar scenario in Manipur.
In conclusion, the meeting between the DGAR and the Governor proved fruitful, where Governor praised the efforts made by the Assam Rifles in saving precious lives during the recent floods caused due to extensive rains in the state.
