Cry Of A Dying River...60
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that listens to the traveller's tales
Lost in a whirpool of amazement awe envy and pride
Tales of the beauteous river Beas of Himachal
The clean meandering water course
Flowing through the Manali valley
And lo! Zero traces of plastic panorama
Zero presence of pollutants non biodegradable
A river with a difference
Citizenship with responsibilities.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that loves travelling and traveller's tales
Tales of different culture and environment
Experience of and exposure to culture shock and cultural lag
The river that flows in a valley
A valley of valley dwellers who hardly travel
Valley dwellers who accumulate money money and money
Pity are the rich and powerful
Living in a self cocoon of their choice
Showing scant respect for environmentalism.
