Cry Of A Dying River...56
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that has been fed with plastics
Since day one of urbanisation and urbanism
The river that has been debilitated by plastic debris
The river that has been dilapidated by indifference and negligence
The river that has been made a depository of plastic bottles
The river whose beauty has been debeautified by plastic pellets
The river that has been crippled by plastic menace
The wonder that was Nambul in the yore years
Now a river of plastic and plastic and plastic.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that has been taken over by plastic
Plastic that numbs the riverine romance
The river that is helpless against the ever growing plastic disaster
Plastic that litter the land and pollute the riverbanks
The river whose fragile ecosystem has been destroyed by plastic
Plastic plastic bags that create landfills
The river that is rumpled by plastic
Plastic plastic everywhere in and around the river
Oh Nature Almighty! Make me a plastic free river.
