Cry Of A Dying River...41
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river in whose veins run the mythical tale (s)
Tale (s) of Luwang-ee whose legends are legion
The river mystique mesmerised by a face
The face that launched a fleet of royal boats
On voyage was Lueang Ningthou Punshiba to
Fulfil a long-cherished longing of a glimpse
The 'Nungshibi Maithong' of his estranged beloved
Oh Luwang Ningthou! the love-lorn King
Hapless at the mercy of a face sublime.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that stopped flowing for once
The still water running deep
The river that was privy to "Misson Leima"
Was there anything Luwang Ningthou would not sacrifice
For one more glimpse of the face
The 'Shumhatpi Maithong' of his beloved Irem Toibi Leima
Oh Luwang Ningthou! "LEIMA YENGLINGEIDA KHUNU KARE"
So whispered the whispering wind
Awake Luwang Ningthou awake !
Leima thy beloved Leima beckons thee.
