Cry Of A Dying River...21
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that has not been cleaned for ages
The river that has been polluted with garbage and excreta
The river where every seconds of the three sixty five days
Are pumped in into the river bed
Plastic bags full of kitchen scraps
Non-biodegradable trash and untreated sewage
Oblivious of the irreversible damage done to the river’s environmental needs
Oh man, modernised man!! What manner of a man
What mannerism you bring forth!!!
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that has undiluted love for man
The river that has been diluted by man
The river that is ever faithful and loyal
To the Lord of the river and water bodies
IBUDHOU WANGBREN who protects children of the river
So I kept flowing hearing grandma's stories
Stories of fairy tales legends and lore
The river that prays all through the ages
Lest the wrath of Ibudhou WANGBREN not befallen.
