Cry Of A Dying River...12
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that watched and withered
Along the games politicians play
The politics of oiling greedy and greasy palms
The politics of 'crores' at pen-point
The politics of pouring money into private pockets
The politics of reducing the hitherto self-reliant land
Into a state of 'sponsored economy'
The politics of paying people peanuts
The politics of pauperising people.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that is of peripheral importance
In the Central planning of saving rivers
The river that becomes the first casualty
In the politics of cleaning rivers
The river that is not even a foot note
In the history of rivers flowing through the valley
The river whose riverine ecosystem
All gone destroyed and lost
All in the politics of project-centric dam-based politics.
