Congress appoints new in-charge of NE

Congress president Sonia Gandhi today appointed former Union minister of state in the Prime Minister’s Office, V. Narayanasamy, as the new general secretary in charge of the seven northeastern states, in place of Luizinho Faleiro, who was yesterday appointed the new Congress chief in his home state, Goa.
Barring Assam, he has been tasked with the same responsibility given to Faleiro earlier as he has to look after the Congress’s affairs in Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Sikkim.
