Cong to take up Manipur border issue
The Telegraph | Imphal, Sept. 5:
The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will take up the issue of Indo-Myanmar border survey before AICC president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Senior CLP member and former cabinet minister N. Biren Singh told The Telegraph that they had discussed the matter in a meeting, chaired by chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, last evening.
The Ibobi Singh government has also not taken any follow-up action after the committee’s inspection. The United Committee Manipur (UCM), a citizens' organisation formed to protect Manipur’s boundary, is preparing a memorandum for submission to the Prime Minister, detailing Manipur’s geographical history. The UCM is expected to caution New Delhi against compromising Manipur's land while re-demarcating the border.
