Untimely Demise of Th. Oliver Condoled
The faculties, staff and students of Dhanamnjuri Community College at D M University, Imphal deeply condoled the sudden and untimely demise of Shri Th. Oliver former State Nodal Officer of RUSA and Community College under Directorate of University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur.
Th. Oliver was actively involved in the establishment of two community colleges in Manipur namely Dhanamnjuri Community College and Churachandpur Community College on pilot basis in the year 2013 which were allocated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development for the State of Manipur based on the population.
While serving as the State Nodal officer of RUSA he was actively involved with the creation of the State Cluster University by way of clustering nearby colleges at the initial stage under RUSA.
Born on the 3rd March 1957 in Chandel District, Manipur Th. Oliver began his career as an academician by associating with administrative works related to the establishment of the United College as a “born” Principal from the “birth” of the College.
After serving for a pretty long period of 22 (twenty two) years (from 1987 to 2009), the Government of Manipur, considering the restless services rendered by him towards development of the educationally and economically backward tribal students, deputed him as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the National Tribal University (IGNTU), Regional Campus, Imphal from the 7th Sept. 2009.
Though it was not his option, he had to honour the decision of the Government and hence, served as the OSD at IGNTU with his significant contributions towards the initial establishment of the Tribal University at Makhan Village, Senapati District.
After the completion of the term of deputation at IGNTU as OSD, Th. Oliver was posted at the Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur as OSD/State Nodal Officer (Pilot Community College and RUSA).
After serving in the Directorate till the 28 February 2017 as OSD (RUSA), it becomes no longer permissible for him to continue to hold the post as he has already attained the age of 60 years.
He has been repatriated as an Associate Professor. On 14 June 2020 at half past midnight, Th. Oliver took his last breathe following a BP stroke. He was survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. He was 63 years.
