Condolence meeting for friend and wellwisher of Assam & Assamese
Guwahati, 19th March, 2017
Today on the 19th of March 2017, a condolence meeting was held in Ankurjyoti Club , Jorpukhuripar, Uzanbazar, Guwahati, Assam, India, condoling the untimely death of Kakchingtabam Sundar Gopal Sharma, a prominent person of the Manipuri community of Mandalay city of Myanmar and a great friend and well wisher of Assam and Assamese people.
The meeting was organised by “Work Group on Historically Dispersed Assamese”. On the 16th of March 2017, he died as a result of a tragic road traffic accident in Sagaing state of Myanmar.
The meeting condoled the untimely death of Kakchingtabam Sundar Gopal Sharma and prayed for the deceased observing a silence of 2 minutes.
Speakers including Mr Pradyut Bordoloi, ex-minister Government of Assam, Mr Oinam Sunil, journalist, Dr Satyakam Phukan, Mr Binoy Kumar Sarma and Mrs Jyoti Das, spoke on the occasion, extolling his virtues, his selfless work for the Assam and Assamese people and also the personal bondings they developed with his contact.
Worth mentioning that Late Kakchingtabam Sundar Gopal Sharma was a guardian figure for the Historically Dispersed Assamese community of Mandalay city of Myanmar. He was also one of the main vector in establishing the link between the Assamese people of Assam and Myanmar.
