NEFIS CONDEMNS THE WARNING ISSUED TO MIZOS OF BARAK VALLEY BY AN OUTFIT!
TIT FOR TAT WOULD TRIGGER HATRED AMONG COMMUNITIES: NEFIS!
DEMANDS THAT MINORITIES EVERYWHERE BE PROVIDED PROTECTION AND STATE GOVERNMENTS SHOULD TAKE MEASURES TO STOP SUCH HATE SPEECH!
North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) strongly condemns the direction issued by an outfit in the Barak Valley of Assam to Mizos residing there. It directs the Mizos to leave the Barak Valley for their own safety, in a tone similar to that adopted by another outfit earlier in Mizoram.
This amounts to a tit-for-tat situation which would only serve to trigger more hatred among the communities residing in the region and would culminate into a vicious cycle of violence and animosity among the communities in the entire region.
NEFIS appeals to all communities to come together against all violence and to take a step back and put forth all the contentious issues for deliberation and larger consultation. In this respect, a Truth and Reconciliation Commission should be established to ensure justice and peace in Manipur.
NEFIS stands for the rights of the working masses including those who migrate to other states for better life prospects. The migrants have a reciprocal relationship with their place of residence. They contribute to the state's economy and have every right to safety and security accorded to the other residents of the state.
NEFIS condemns the statement and demands that the state governments should take stern measures to curb such hate speeches.
