NPF condemns Oting killings
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) expresses serious concern and vehemently condemns the firing incident at Oting village, Mon district on Saturday that killed over a dozen of lives and injuring many by the Indian Security Forces.
No words is Irrepairable for such heinous crimes committed by the Armed force against the armless and harmless civilians.
While the Government of India and Naga political Groups is on cease fire and are engaged in bringing the Naga political issue to a logical conclusion through a peaceful means, the heartless and cowardly act carried out by the Armed forces is nothing but provoking the peace loving Naga people.
And since the Security Forces should be functioning under the supervision of State Government when it comes to law and order situation of the state, the Government should whole heartedly deal with the situation.
Therefore, the party strongly demands immediate investigation at the highest level and appropriate action against the perpetrators as per the law of the land.
The State Cabinet should immediately take stock of the situation and institute a high level inquiry commission headed by a retired judge of the High Court, giving one-month time to submit its findings with action to be taken against the erring groups. In the meantime, the Cabinet should declare compensatory measures for the aggrieved parties.
The NPF also strongly appeals the Government of India to immediately remove the draconian Armed Forces (Special Power) Act, which gives sweeping powers to security forces. It’s high time the government paid heed to the demands for withdrawal of the Act from Nagaland.
The NPF also expresses solidarity with the people of the Oting village and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured persons.
