Complaints on crimes against NE people in Delhi remain high

Despite the Central government’s measures to deter crimes against North-East people in the national capital, people from the region continue to be at the receiving end. According to a report from the Naga Students’ Union Delhi (NSUD) President, Maivio Woba, a total of 359 complaints on crimes were registered between February 14 and July 9 this year.
Security of the people from the North East in Delhi and the general apathy towards them became a rallying point after the Nido Tania killing. Tania, a student from Arunachal Pradesh, was killed in assault, suspected to be racially motivated this January.
