Committed Candle
Moirangthem Minakshi Devi *
Calmly burns the candle.
Stare I at her flickering flame delightfully dance,
Lits up she dark sites, brilliance to arise around,
An enlightening light to lives stay in surrounds.
Ponder I, how a lighted dying soul
Glow so in glee in a dark worldly hell?
Whispered she to me, her secred story to tell-
Dedicated how her short life for serene service,
For luminating the souls those live in dark cell.
To tell, how she fights with the darks with her mild might
At the expense of own life, her yellow light
Though she finds her left aside in a dark site
Whilst the souls stay in delight in broad daylight.
Once the bright curtain rises up, but, on arrival of the dark,
Search for her start that rolls till she come to sight,
Desperate to befriend her to snatch a shining share
Only when darkness in their souls attain a high height.
Eager she yet to expend her life's light,
Pleasure and eternal peace to find,
Being she born to get burnt as a flabulous flame
To dispel evil darks amid mankind, they though unkind.
O committed candle, I know now-
Why you talk of devilic darks though being so bright?
Why you flickers to dance in delight all the night?
