Seven Sisters Post Exclusive | Rajeev Bhattacharyya | May 2
Senior Ulfa leader Jibon Moran and two journalists, including this correspondent, apprehended by Myanmarese army. The incident confirmed by no less than the Union home secretary RK Singh. And they are to be handed over to Indian authorities at Moreh. But nobody turns up because they have already been set free by the army. Moran even spotted with NSCN-K supremo SS Khaplang at a camp in Myanmar. Senior NSCN-K functionary confirms that the two journos are “safe and sound in the eastern zone”. But they have been held hostage by Khaplang who has demanded Rs 5 crore for their release. Then an eerie silence on the topic…
The high-voltage drama that was played out on the two journalists last December was totally untrue.
The drama was produced by the local TV news channels and directed by the intelligence agencies with assistance from shameless self-seekers. In the end, the government ended with a big egg on its face since the drama’s objectives could not be fulfilled and Ulfa chief of staff Paresh Baruah could not be prevented from giving the interview.
