College Principals' Conference held at NEHU on May 24, 2017
North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S. K. Srivastava, inaugurated a one day Principals' Conference on the theme, “Initiatives on Enhancing Quality in Higher Education” on 24th May, 2017. The event was organized by the IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) in collaboration with UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of NEHU.
Prof. N. Srivastav, Director, IQAC welcomed the participants and spoke on the parameters and indicators relevant to the quality in higher education and also stressed on the importance of assessment and accreditation of colleges and universities.
Prof. Smritikumar Sarkar, former Vice-Chancellor of Burdwan University, in his lecture put more emphasis on human initiatives for a qualitative improvement in the teaching-learning process, with the objective of integrating the students to the process of social empowerment.
Former Director of NAAC, Prof. A. N. Rai, who acted as a resource person shared his wide experience as an academic administrator and gave interesting anecdotes regarding the success, failures and aberrations of the existing accreditation system.
Director, Human Resource Development Centre, Prof. Rakesh Mohan, who chaired the programme informed that the main target of the conference was to assess and evaluate the recent initiatives taken to enhance the quality in higher education and its impact on the society. Special emphasis was laid on the purpose and prospects of these initiatives in the context of North-Eastern region in general and Meghalaya in particular.
The conference was attended by 69 college Principals, Vice-Principals and IQAC Directors of affiliated colleges of NEHU.
