Centre warns rebel cadres - 'Obey ground rules or face action'
The Telegraph | Imphal, March 24:
Union home joint secretary in charge of the Northeast Sambhu Singh today warned rebel cadres that the Centre will not tolerate ground rule violations.
“Peace talks and arrests are two different things. If you are caught, you are caught. Even during talks if you do not behave and follow the law of the land you will have to suffer the consequences,” Singh told reporters here today in response to questions on NSCN (I-M) leader Ningkhan Anthoni Shimray’s arrest in Nepal.
The official’s words of caution came in the wake of agitation by Naga bodies in Manipur against Shimray’s arrest. Shimray, head of foreign affairs of NSCN (I-M) was arrested in Nepal on September 27, 2010, and is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. He is accused of procuring arms and waging war against India.
