Centre asks NE states to fill up vacancy in police forces

Aware of the huge vacancy in the state police forces, the Centre has advised all the governments in the Northeast to immediately fill up the posts to properly maintain the overall law-and-order situation.
According to the statistics, Manipur has actual police strength of 22,938 against the sanctioned number of 31,081. The report said 8,143 posts a relying vacant in the state police force. Manipur is followed by Left Front government in Tripura. The state has actual police strength of 36,647 against the sanctioned strength of 44,310. Altogether 7,663 police posts are lying vacant in the state, the home ministry report pointed out
