Capacity Building Workshop on Six Waste Management Rules
Date : July 5th - 6th 2019 at Imphal
The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF & CC), Government of India has notified Six Waste Management Rules in year 2016.
These are
o Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016
o e-waste (Management) Rules, 2016
o Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016
o Construction and Demolition Waste Management Rules,2016
o Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016
o Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016
In order to ensure effective implementation of these rules, the MoEF & CC along with National Productivity Council (NPC) is organising two-day workshops in 20 cities of India.
NPC, an autonomous body under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is serving as National Programme Coordinator for the said Capacity Building Project on Six Waste Management Rules (2016).
The Capacity Building project seeks to strengthen institutional capacities at ULBs and amongst stakeholders, towards collection, treatment, disposal and efficient management of various types and categories of wastes, promote 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) initiatives and dissemination of good practices, and facilitate integrated efforts towards achieving improvement in general health of city environment etc.
Imphal has been selected as one of the cities under this program. The two day workshop at Imphal during 5-6 July, 2019 at City Convention Centre will enable various stakeholders to implement the waste management rules and in performing duties towards achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat mission of Govt. of India.
