CBI probing 40 cases in NE

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is presently investigating around 40 cases, mostly corruption cases, in the North East region, but despite achieving very good conviction rate, the Bureau is not getting adequate cooperation from the people of the region to check corruption.
North East Zonal office of the CBI, Rajiv Singh pointed out that the Zonal office of the CBI was created last year to ensure better monitoring of the cases handled by the Central investigating agency, which has branches in Guwahati, Shillong and Imphal , which are headed by officers of the rank of Superintendents of Police or above.
