Bus mishap: KMHR slams Manipur government
Nagalandpost | 14 Jan. 2012 12:34 AM IST:
Kuki Movement for Human Rights (KMHR) Friday expressed dismay over Manipur government’s failure to announce relief for the victims’ families in the aftermath of the bus accident between Piphema and Medziphema on January 4.
In an open memorandum addressed to the Manipur chief minister, chairman KMHR Pu T. Lunkim alleged that the state government has “done nothing” and did not show “sympathy” to the families of the deceased and the injured. Pointing out that Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio and his government extended all help and announced cash relief of Rs.50,000 each to the deceased and Rs.10,000 to those injured, KMHR wondered why Manipur government was silent on the mishap.
The memorandum also mentioned that no ministers, MLAs and officials including the Governor reacted to the mishap. KMHR appealed to the state government to extend “loving care” to the families of the dead and the injured. It may be mentioned that a bus (MN01-1833) coming from Imphal and heading for Shillong fell into a gorge killing 10 passengers.
