This is what Bonny Elangbam has to say about his achievement:
This was an amazing and culturally enriching experience. I wanted to bust myths around the Northeast being unsafe and thus, took the challenge and covered 8 sister states in the North East. The journey was undoubtedly challenging, as covering difficult passes on a scooty in adverse weather conditions could be risky. I was always mindful of my surroundings and my vision of raising awareness for North East tourism keeps me motivated.
My TVS Jupiter is already two years old, and this was the most I’ve ridden on it at a stretch. While I learned many new things during my ride, some parts were scary. Roads on the expressway were too good, except Lucknow and Bihar, and most of the North East state highway was muddy and very difficult to drive.
Many roads are still being reconstructed, and as you can guess, it’s very difficult to ride on a scooty on such uneven and muddy roads.
In a nutshell, I have had my share of Yin and Yang, in the form of bad weather, bad and muddy roads, and a scary ferry ride on flooding Brahmaputra, but nowhere beats my spirit for the welcome, support, warmth, and love I got from the people. It constantly reminded me of my motive to complete this journey, i.e. - making India aware of the unexplored North-East, of its simple and loving people, its humble lifestyle, its magnificent beauty, its calm vibe, and the place I proudly call my HOME!
