Beautiful Smile
H Ranjita *
There's beauty in the smile
On the wrinkled, shiny face
Of the old woman in the street.
I can see the reflection of her heart
That I cannot see in the artificial smiles
Of those perfect Beauties posing for the camera.
There's beauty in the smile
Of the mother, looking at her sleeping child,
With all her tender feelings, love and care,
I cannot see such beauty in the forced smiles
During formal parties to impress each other.
There's beauty in the smile
Of the man who toils hard and succeeds
Which I cannot see in the smiles
Of those who succeeds by foul means.
The simple-straight-from the-heart-innocent-smiles,
The smile of labour, smile of love and care
Are really hard to find these days but ther'sre
Full of artificial and politically correct smiles,
Following when and how to smile and at whom.
The loss of innocence in this world of ignorance
Is too much, simply too much with us.
