Assam-Nagaland Border on alert after killings
The Telegraph | Pullock Dutta | Jorhat, March 28:
An alert has been sounded along the Assam-Nagaland border following yesterday’s killing of three NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) cadres by stone quarry labourers. The quarry in Nagaland’s Wokha district, bordering Golaghat in Assam, has been closed down fearing an attack by the outfit.
“We have asked the owner to close down the quarry, since the NSCN might try to carry out a retaliatory strike,” a police official at Uriamghat outpost on the Assam-Nagaland border said.
The labourers lynched the three cadres yesterday afternoon when a group of about seven rebels allegedly assaulted a few labourers for not paying the money they had demanded. While three died on the spot, the others fled.
