The recent season 3 contest on short stories is won by a Manipuri short stories teller, Dr. ASHA SOUGAIJAM, who is presently a faculty member at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Campus, Manipur. She is a educator by profession; writer by passion.
She recently released her debut short stories compilation in English "HODGEPODGE: 7 PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS" by My books Publication, New Delhi.
ABOUT THE BOOK
The debut collection of 7 short-stories describes particularly
the ordinary stage of one’s life, which were instigated by
the lives one would come across. It’s filled with different
characters, story lines, plots, and backgrounds. This book attempts
to give the readers to focus inwards on the bigger details within
smaller stories. Each story leads at different lives and hooks you
into a compelling journey one connects into.
#Quarter 4/F: The first fiction which the author was inspired
to write when she realised the emotions behind every story of
men/women who saved the lives of thousand, and the loss to their
family members. I salute each one of them from the bottom of my
heart. They are the “Hero” for someone out there.
#The Encounter-What lies within!: The story depicts the
conversation between two strangers at the airport waiting area. At
certain angles, some lives are lucky and others they don’t look so
well. One begins to learn when we’re willing to view the world
from different perspectives. As the saying goes, “In the end, it’s not
the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”- Abraham Lincoln.
#Fly-by-Night: The story represent the strength of fighting back
and to live a greater life. The ability to trust ourselves is what made
us to face the fear everyday; the need for unconditional positive
self-regard.
#The Direful Anima: The unusual sensations can be an intriguing
facet of the paranormal world. They can be tarrying aspect of the
natural world, especially for those who believe in unworldly being.
As the subconsciousness motive gains energy and leads off to
manifest more easily, all the fear will increase and intensify, and one
might also begin to experience many unusual discomforts or dread.
#The Price of a Sacrifice: Special memories are everything in
a relationship, just like it is in spirit. When we look back at our lives, we remember it by the happy memories we hold. The more
the memories we can conceive of, the better and more worthwhile
our lives would feel. Love works the same way, if we stop creating
excitement and fond memories, we’ll bear nothing that’ll make our
love felt special and wonderful. Treasure those people who built
your life once a worth living for. It’s the little things that really
count.
#Contract Marriage - Beyond the Union!: We do get anxious
about losing our connection with others and we endeavour to fix
quickly whatever goes awry. Happiness is not having what others
want, but having what you want. No matter the situation, never
let your emotions overpower the hardships. One shouldn’t make a
permanent decision for a temporary emotion.
#The Other End- What it takes!: Parents should sacrifice so that
the child has the life they want to subsist in. They must establish
the sacrifice so that the children can have that they deserve. Being
part of a family means everyone pitches in and tries to make life
better for each other.
