Army ready to tackle militants from Myanmar
Assam Tribune | Sobhapati Samom | Leimakhong (Manipur), June 11
The army is prepared to tackle any situation along the Indo-Myanmar border in the event of any infiltration of insurgents from Myanmar, said Maj Gen Binoy Poonnem, GOC, 57 Mountain Division.
“We have sealed the border. But it is very encouraging that the Myanmar authority have decided to put a stop to militant camps – we will wait and see,” the Army officer said reacting to a question on the Myanmar Government’s June 10 deadline for Manipur-based militant outfits to shut their camps on its soil.
