Nagaland Post | Kohima, Apr 3 (NPN):
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio Tuesday said that it was not the people but the areas in the state’s eastern part that were “backward.”
Rio attributed this to the late arrival of education and infrastructural development in the region which created the disparity and also made some Nagas more fortunate than others in the society which otherwise was a “classless” society.
Asking the Church not to misinterpret the methods of observing festivals and term them as “ungodly”, the chief minister opined that in the present context, festivals were observed in synchronization with modernity, leaving aside practices that go against Christian values and most importantly in remembrance of “our forefathers”.
