Archers flee cauldron - Training shifted to Gangtok
The Telegraph | Nirmal Mangar | Gangtok, May 17:
The searing heat in Calcutta has forced four Olympic archers training there for the London Games to shift base to Gangtok.
Jayanta Talukdar, Deepika Kumari, Bombaila Devi and Cherovolu Swuro arrived in Gangtok yesterday, barely escaping the hottest day of the summer so far in Calcutta.
“Calcutta was too hot for us to carry on with our practice. The Gangtok climate will suit us,” said Bombaila Devi, whose home state Manipur has temperate weather.
