Kalabhusan (Lairik Haiba) - Narrative Art
Shri Arambam Modhu Singh was born on 2nd January, 1934 at Nambol Maibam Chingmang.
He was born to Arambam Chaoba Singh and Arambam ongbi Pishak Devi.
At the age of 30, Modhu Singh took guidance under famous gurus like Pukhrambam Rupachandra Singh, Konjengbam Nobin Singh, Maibam Pishak Singh, Pukhrambam Kaminimohan Singh and Thangjam Dasharath Singh in the field of narrative form of art.
And he is also the approved artist of All India Radio Imphal and Doordarshan Kendra Imphal.
After taking the charge as President of Shri Shri Govindaji Bhakti Granth Kendra Vidyalaya, located at Palace Compound, Imphal, various programmes of narrative form of art were held annually under his strict guidance.
He authored many books like
o Tilotama Pala(2014),
o Sabitri Satyaban gi wari(2014),
o Ningthou Harishchandra gi Wari(2014),
o Sapt Kaand Ramayan Aadi Kaand(2014), and
o Bhakta Gunamrit Ganth Rupaban gi wari(2016).
And his another two book Krishnajanma and Radhajanma are under the process of releasing.
For his various contribution, Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academy New Delhi awarded him the Dr Ambedkar Fellowship Award, 2009, Shrishrigovindaji Bhakti Granth Kendra Vidyalaya awarded him the Padmabhusan and Gold Medal in 2007.
In recognition of his contribution in the field of narrative form of art, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal, on their 82nd annual conference, awarded him the Kalabhusan(Lairik haiba) title.
