Appeal to Government and citizens of Manipur for peace
- 11th June 2023 : Rongmei Phwam Delhi -

The Rongmei Phwam Delhi (Rongmei Council Delhi NCR) is deeply pained and saddened by the recent widespread devastating events that have caused untold loss to Manipur and its people since May 3, 2023.
As the crisis deepens and the state continues to burn with the unfolding of more violence and unrest, the Council expresses serious concern and appeal for immediate end to violence and speedy restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.
We also extend our deepest condolences to the grieving families of the victims of the present violence and stand in solidarity with the thousands of affected people. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Furthermore, we condemn all acts of violence, brutality, hatred, and any violation of human rights. We also condemn the destruction of property, including houses, places of worship, and other establishments.
Although the present conflict is said to be between the Meitei (Meetei) and Kuki communities, one of our churches (belonging to the Rongmei Naga community, though the community name is pronounced visibly), LAMPHEL RONGMEI BAPTIST CHURCH in Imphal, was also burned down on 4th May, 2023, along with many other churches.
However, “eye for an eye” or violence for violence is not the solution to any problems or aspirations. We need peace, not violence and hatred.
Though we may experience war and peace in this world, the Rongmei Phwam Delhi NCR would like to request all the citizens of Manipur through this appeal letter to preserve and maintain the sanctity of our places of worship, be it a mosque, temple, synagogue or church in any conflict.
As the Manipur state is experiencing one of the worst, most painful and difficult times, we must not allow any elements to incite further unrest. Instead, we must all come together in the name of peace and promote reconciliation.
We urge the government and all citizens of the state to work towards the restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur at the earliest. Let peace prevail.
(Mr. Levi Thaimei)
Chairman, RPD
(Mr. Huaineiguang Rwangmei)
General Secretary, RPD
