104th birth centenary of Hijam Irabot on 3rd October 2010 at Delhi
Organized by Khonthaang, Delhi
Khonthaang, the echo of a brave new world, will be celebrating the 104th birth centenary of Hijam Irabot on 3rd October 2010 at Delhi. It's Khonthaang's humble tribute to our leader, who lived in a different era but his ideologies and sacrifices are more relevant today. We could still rallied behind his ideologies and yearn for a populist Manipur that he had dreamt so bravely.
The function will feature talks on the life and times of Hijam Irabot, his poetry and renditions of patriotic songs, Pena recital, poetry reading, etc.
What has shaped our thinking and acceptance thereof, on the present socio-political scenario of Manipur is indeed a mystery. Despite having a glorious and prosperous past, Manipur is not able to move to the status quo ante. For that matter of fact, it is reeling under insatiability to stand itself as an independent entity and this has been manifested in more numerous times than ever recently.
Here, we do need to ponder what could have been the scenario had one leader like Hijam Irabot is amidst us, leading our way and restoring our pride that has indeed become a mere talking point. We need him now like never before. So let's join together and invoke his spirit, once again in his 104th birth centenary.
And the first step is unity, in simple words knowing each other and understanding each other better; taking some time off so that, once a while we got to see each other and recognize the faces that we carry as one, having one root and one home, coming together in each other need, even while we are preoccupied with our daily chores. We wish the featuring programs will be able to translate this belief in reality and help us understand Hijam Irabot deeper. A day spent together with his blessings will surely be a day blessed for all of us.
Khonthaang is a group of individuals residing In Delhi and its surrounding suburbs, who wishes for a brave new world.
