An open letter to citizens of Manipur

Ours have been a generation to witness the making of history every day more than any generations before, be it in sports, culture, science, and technology. We could not have expected that we would be creating a history of civil unrest, the biggest the state has ever witnessed. MitSna has been closely observing the alarming situation in Manipur and we are strongly against the communal tension that is built up in both the hills and valley alike.
We stand in solidarity with those who are working towards bringing peace to the affected areas and the state. We stand with the inhabitants of Manipur and their constitutional fight for their concerned rights. We urge the people in all areas not to resort to violence and condemn those who resort to violence by taking the law into their hands. We seek a peaceful coexistence for the sake of the youths and request the public to seek government and democratic help to resolve the issue.
We urge everyone to stick to the idea of “Save Manipur” instead of dividing us into different groups and sections. Manipur is in dire need of everyone to stay with a positive and constructive mindset against
those who are working on the destruction of our united spirit, assets and most importantly, lives.
MitSna’s inclination towards a secular attitude deeply condemns the use of religion as tool for propagating violence in the state.
We would like to question the government on the lapses in the security at the epicentre of the riot, Churachandpur. We strongly urge the government to set up an unbiased central committee to investigate
everything that resulted in the situation now and take proper actions against the perpetrators to avoid similar mishaps happening in the future.
We believe in the three pillars of Indian Democracy: it is not our duty to decide who is right or wrong, it lies with the judiciary, it is not our duty to act against those who are wrong, and the power lies with the executives. We appeal for bringing a peaceful resolution to the prevailing tension through dialogue with concerned stakeholders.
SAVE MANIPUR!
