Ah, me - Now Happy, Now Sad
K. Radhakumar *
It's a frightening sky,
The world is in for a storm.
My mood
Like a dark cloud
Hangs in a vacuum.
The disproportionately thick lips of life
Stands out
When the cartoon character smiles.
Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day,
I've an engagement this afternoon
And at five o'clock
We are going to the theatre
My girlfriend and I.
There is no understanding Nature;
It's raining
And it's raining cats and dogs.
Once I spent a sleepless night
In a guest house of a wild life sanctuary;
I was alone.
The light of the lantern
My true friend in the dark
Flickered and went out
At dead of night.
I jumped at the chirping of crickets;
The night chilled me to the bone.
And the morning never came
When I wanted it to come before its time.
I am praying for good weather this afternoon
But the rain pours down.
The rain stops now.
I see a rainbow
In the wet but shining sky.
I see towers resurrecting
From the debris of the twin towers
And thousands of lives
Like humming bees in a hive
Coming from the ruins of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
