Against NSA to Kishorchandra Wangkhem
02nd January, 2019
The Shillong Manipuri Students’ Union Shillong condemns the unfortunate act of Manipur Government that 39-year-old, Mr. Kishorchandra Wangkhem; a local journalist of Manipur has been incarcerated under National Security Act since 27 November 2018, even after the Court has considered him bailed from the charge of sedition filed by Government of Manipur.
Charging NSA against any person without any trail and any proper legal option for expressing his views for merely talking against the ruling BJP through a social media post is the symbol of autocracy and it violates the basic fundamental rights of the people.
It is an attack to the freedom of expression enshrined in the constitution of India.
We appeal to the Government of Manipur to immediately release Shree Kishorchandra Wangkhem unconditionally, without any charges against him.
