Admissions to Manipur govt schools go awry
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra | Imphal (June 4):
Lack of infrastructure and adequate teachers have come in the way of Manipur education minister’s ambitious plan of providing admission to all aspirants in the three premier government schools in the state.
Following an announcement by the minister, M Oken, to accommodate all students seeking admission to these government schools — TG HS School, CC HS School and Sir Johnston SH School — students in thousands landed at the doorstep of the schools only to be told they have limited capacity. Many students, who had come with high expectation following the minister’s assurance, felt cheated.
Vice-Principal of TG HS School said it was easy to give admission but not as easy to provide education.
